Data Storage Technology

 

I occasionally give a short talk to local groups regarding basic computer security.  I usually include the following story.

I carry a 32GB flash drive around my neck most of the time (cost ~$50 in 2009). It is about 2"x1/4"x1/2" in size.  You may recall the days of the 3.5" diskette drive, 
which held 1.44KB (after they doubled it from 720KB by using "High Density/HD" technology) c.1985.

The little device I carry around my neck holds the same amount of information as about 22,000 of those old devices. This would be a stack over 200 ft. tall.
Pretty amazing.
